Stay in?

Art and Crafts
For hens that are hands on, why not stay in for a crafty hen workshop? You can do pottery painting, jewellery making or create knickers, wedding bunting or fascinators for the big day. Or for a really special arty treat, hire in a male model for a life-drawing class, which has proved immensely popular with previous ChicHens (and is most definitely hands off!)

Our spa bath and sauna is open for you to enjoy between 9am and 9pm. If your hens want to indulge in a little more pampering during their stay we can put you in touch with Glo-pamper who bring the luxury of a spa to you. Their mobile beauticians and therapists offer a range of treatments (massages, facials, pedicures, manicures etc.) and bring everything to Westwood Lodge for your total relaxation.

If you prefer to eat in, our kitchens are very well equipped with everything you need to fully cater for yourselves, or we can recommend outside caterers who can bring in meals for your enjoyment. They range from simple home-made dishes like lasagne, curries or tasty casseroles for you to heat up or the full three course dining experience, served restaurant-style to your table. You might even arrange your own butler – in the buff!

Alcoholic refreshment is an integral part of  ChicHen weekends! In the Main House, your own little bar, between the kitchen and two lounges, is ideal for cocktail making and keeping the champagne chilled. The Old Gallery has plenty of fridge space for keeping drinks cool and the freezer well-stocked with ice cubes. There’s also outside seating – in your own little garden – as well as up on the rooftop – so ChicHens can enjoy a drink al-fresco.

Head out?

The air here is always fresh! Walk out of our gate onto Ilkley Moor and potter up to White Wells Cottage – just a 20 minute stroll – to clear your head. Or take an hour’s walk up through Rocky Valley to the pub beside the Cow and Calf rocks, which has a fabulous vista across the valley. And if you pack your walking boots you can head out across moorland on a more serious hike with relatively easy terrain and breath-taking views.

Ilkley has a reputation as an elegant spa town, especially popular for eating out. It has 21 cafes/tea rooms, 25 restaurants and 15 pubs, many serving food. The most famous eatery, ’Bettys of Harrogate’ is a must for ChicHens to enjoy brunch or afternoon tea. For retail therapy, Ilkley’s array of individual shops and boutiques await you. Our stylish ‘Ilkley Cinema’ seats just 45 and comes highly recommended; they’ll even serve coffees and brownie to your sofa!

Leeds is on hand for bigger shopping trips and rumour has it that Harvey Nichols offers a personal shopper service for those with capacity on their credit card! Leeds also boasts a massive range of bars, clubs and entertainment and a minibus ride home after the trains have stopped running takes barely half an hour. Harrogate (45 minute drive) and York (1 hour 15 minute drive) are also major attractions so you’re spoiled for choice.
